I believe coaching is more than just a question and answer session between two or more people.
Coaching is defined as the process to focus on the ‘here and now’, to distract the mind from it’s sometimes negative inner dialogue, getting the instincts to take over, and to allow the coachee to focus on the stuff that needs to get done.
The role of the coach is not that of a subject expert, but that of a facilitator of learning. It is my role to assit you to improve your performance: helping you to learn. Whether this is learning a new skill, or learning the true boundaries of your abilities.
Coaching is unlocking a person’s true inner potential, helping them discover their ultimate abilities, to maximise their own performance. It is helping them to learn, rather than teaching them.
I also include a component of mentoring within the service.
Coaching focuses on the Present, asking the Question ‘How?’ with the aim of Improving Skills to Raise Competnece.
Mentoring focuses on the Future, asking the Question ‘What?’ with the aim of Committing to Learning Goals to Open Horizions and Opportunities.
